Padmanabhapuram Palace:


With 14 palaces spread across six and a half acres, the complex presents a unique example of the architectural skill and expertise of ancient Kerala. The original structure was a small palace, to which successive rulers made their own modifications. It reached its present form at the end of the 181h century. The oottupura or dining hall, the main palace known as thai kottaram, the ritual hall or homapura the multi-storied upparikka malika,the indravilasam palace, thenavaratri mandapam in the Vijayanagar style., the Archaeological Museum, and the thakke, kottaram are some of the best known,structures. Of the 127 rooms that were once in use,only 27 are now maintained on a regular basis.
