Veli Tourist Village :
A popular picnic spot, this village complex is located 12 km away from the city where the Veli Lake merges with the Arabian Sea. The small stretch of beach formed in between disappears under water when the lake floods over – a natural phenomenon locally known as pozhi murikkal. A large garden holds works of sculpture by the eminent artist, Kanayi Kunhiraman. The floating pontoon bridge across the lake and the boating facilities also draw visitors. The open-air auditorium, with the sea as its backdrop, provides a venue for cultural performances and art festivals.
