Haryana: ‘Garden Tourism’ picks up

Famous for its many theme based gardens, Chandigarh administration is planning new gardens in the city to attract more tourists. “Chandigarh nestles in a picturesque setting in the foothills of Shivaliks and is wellknown as a city of Greens and Gardens. To enhance tourism entity, the UT Administration is coming up with Garden of Spring at Sector 53 here,” an official said here. The Union Ministry of Tourism  has sanctioned over Rs three crore for the development of the new garden to be developed in an area of about 25 to 30 acres. The components of Garden include tourist information centre, illumination of Garden of Spring and walkways, tourists hut and seating benches, construction of walkways throughout the garden, public convenience and water drinking facilities for tourists, stone pitching embankment of rivulet, plantation of flowering trees, shrubs and creepers, he said.
